Opal Schafpate 15 Unter Bäumen is a durable yarn made from 75% virgin wool (superwash) and 25% polyamide in eight natural colour combinations. This yarn is ideally suited for knitting warm socks with unique colour patterns, but it can of course also be used for sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves and stuffed toys. Opal is back for the fifteenth year with the beloved Schafpate collection. The yarn in this collection is made from the wool of a rare German breed of sheep, the Merino sheep. Part of the proceeds from the Schafpate 15 Unter Bäumen collection is invested in the protection of the German migratory sheep farming. Opal is proud to share with their customers that over 185.000 euros have been collected for this cause throughout the years!
As for wool obtained from this unique breed of sheep, it is very soft on the skin, non-shrinking and hard-wearing. Thanks to the superwash treatment, the material is easy to care for and is also machine washable up to 40ᵒC. From one ball of yarn you can knit one pair of socks (up to size 44). The yarn is suitable for needle sizes 2.00-2.50mm. One ball of Opal Schafpate 15 Unter Bäumen yarn weighs 100 grams and holds 425 metres of yarn.
