Cocoknits Sweater Method Class

Description

This is an in-person class.

Instructor: Catherine

Date: 4 Wednesdays: 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, & 11/12 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Fee:  $75

Class Outline

  1. Session 1: Cast on, upper back, Pick Up Then Knit method for Right Shoulder.  If time permits, we will do the left shoulder, but if not, the left shoulder should be completed outside of class.
  2. Session 2:  Join and create sleave tops, place stitch markers, begin sweater worksheet, completing it outside of class if necessary.
  3. Session 3:  Using the sweater worksheet you have created, we will work on our yokes, completing them outside of class if necessary.
  4. Session 4: Catchup session for any of the first 3 sessions and begin to work on body and sleeves.

This class will teach you how to work the seamless set-in sleeve method described by Julie Weisenberger in her book Cocoknits Sweater Workshop. Over the course of three sessions we will cast on, create the shoulders, fill out the yoke worksheet, and work through the yoke. After that, the body and sleeves can be completed like any other top-down sweater.

You can choose to make any sweater by Julie Weisenberger that uses this method.  Individual patterns can be found on Ravelry.  Choose a pattern that is appropriate for your skill level as we will be using class time to learn the set-in sleeve method. Purchasing the Cocoknits Sweater Workshop book is optional but recommended.  It is a great knitting reference book.

Skill Level: Intermediate -- Participants in this class will be asked to establish gauge before the first session.  Help with gauge can be had at the shop before classes start.  This IS NOT a class for beginners.  Participants should have already made at least one sweater.

Class Preparation

We will be casting on during the first class session. That means the following tasks must be completed before the first class:

  • Select a pattern and determine which size you want to make
  • Determine what needle size will achieve the stitch and row gauge called for in the pattern
